This is exactly what we need to look into, find out the answer to the
question you asked Norma: "Why this immigrant group needs to call
special attention to themselves?"

The basic answer for anyone to do this is, again, simple: This group is
calling for attention because they are not getting any from our current
elected representatives.

Question we could ask:
Why do these immigrants feel neglected?
How many comprise current citizens?
How many wish to become citizens and why?
...etc

I actually just put a call in to Juan Gutierrez, left a voicemail for him.

This is one of the first action items for us after forming an executive
board/steering committee. We will form an outreach committee that will
be responsible for reaching out to other non-partisan organizations such
as "Full Right for Immigrants" and see if and where we can work together
to hold our elected officials accountable.

The is an old saying: "Is not my enemy's enemy also my friend?" "We the
People" may be an odd crowd, extremely diverse, differing political
opinions, but we are still in the same boat, fighting for the same basic
right to true and honest representation.

Let's make friends in 2010.
